Bill McPherson
Around Altona Community Newspaper delivered it’s first issue in February 2007. Mr Bill McPherson, the publisher of the Around Altona was 80 when I first met him, and has since also established the Around Point Cook (three years ago) and more recently the Around Hoppers Crossing community newspapers.
The Around Altona delivers in simple black and white format, articles of interest to members of the Altona community.
The main thrust of the paper is to provide local content.
You may find an original cartoon or poem from a local resident, a local article written by a volunteer journalist or student. You may wish to provide notifications of upcoming events.
To view our current issue just click on the link at bottom right of this website.
We have been receiving content from local clubs, interest groups, individuals and children. From this content we have provided a rich community voice for six years. Why not participate in this excellent community focused project.
Around Altona needs your help!
This can be in many forms, you may choose to provide your journalism skills, or write an article for your local group. You may wish to write a Letter to the Editor or assist by contributing art or cartoons. perhaps volunteering to deliver the Newspaper to houses in your area. You may even know a person of note who might inspire an interesting article. Alternatively you may be able to become a sponsor and recieve recognition for supporting this exciting project.
We are constantly looking for advertisers who may wish to sponsor columns or simply place advertisements promoting their products and services in the various editions.
